Refugee Week 2023 Ballarat Program
Theme: Finding Freedom
18th – 24th June 2023
Every year, Refugee Week is scheduled during the week that includes 20th June, which is World Refugee Day. It always runs from Sunday to Saturday.
Refugee week is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the contributions which refugees bring to Australia. It is also a time when all Australians are encouraged to educate themselves, as well as listen to the stories of those seeking asylum.
This year’s theme is “Finding Freedom”. Every day millions of people across the world embark on dangerous journeys for the sole purpose of finding safety and freedom. From Australia to nations across the globe, settling into a new environment after experiencing the perils of a refugee’s journey can also provide the opportunity to live, to love and to dream.
The Refugee Week program here in Ballarat is a unique opportunity for us all to experience and celebrate the rich diversity of our refugee communities, and better understand their journeys.
