Ballarat Speakers Club: Paul Michael Donovan

Ethno-historian Paul Michael Donovan will talk about the subject of his PhD, which is the research and analysis of colonial collectors of Indigenous cultural items in Victoria.

These collectors include pastoralists, missionaries, travellers, and international scientists who collected cultural material under the influence of the ‘Doomed Race Theory’. This research explores the nexus of the relationships between these colonial figures and Victoria’s First Nations peoples.
